Work out what you want your life to be like and how you want to spend your time. Work out how much you need to earn to have the life you want. Look at where your incomes streams are, and which will provide the quickest route to providing the cash flow you need every month to have the life you want. You’ve got to sort out what you want in life, get clarity and then control of your finances. Property investment is just another business and you need to understand the market, the tenants, the client, the legislation and most importantly the maths. The only thing that is going to make you feel secure, is if you take control. The choice is doing nothing and the retirement debt cascade or doing something, creating a wealthy retirement pan and a whole second life. It was a massive undertaking in every area and having a physical space meant there were specific challenges along with the systems and processes of a business such as sales and marketing. The relationship I was in became abusive both physically, mentally and financially bringing both the business and me to a point of near collapse. It was a very dark difficult time which was about survival with no opportunity to look after or grow the business. The driver for me was proving to my children that I could make a success of it and set them a good example showing them what they could achieve. The rebranding was an important turning point in being able to make the changes that made the business my own. It’s a big part of who I am, and the shop is a reflection of me. There will always be challenges in business it’s the way we react to them that’s important. It's vital to realise that you can't do it all on your own. Learning to outsource things you aren’t very good at or don’t like doing can make you more productive. There is a fear about outsourcing that you are paying someone else to do something you could possibly do yourself and that they won’t represent your brand in the way you want. To be successful it's important that you have a good support network, this needs to encompass people such as your family and mentors who can guide you providing overview and perspective whilst holding you to account.
