1. The work of John the Baptist
John, a prophet working near Jerusalem by the River Jordan. His message challenges people to repent and be baptised. He specifically challenges the wealthy, tax collectors and soldiers and points to the Messiah.

5. Jesus starts to call disciples
Andrew, Simon and unnamed disciple transfer allegiance from John to Jesus. Simon is given name of Peter, the rock. Jesus returns to Galilee where Philip and Nathanael are called. They are spiritual seekers which we can be too.

4. John the Baptist – the prophet of Jesus
John's identity is questioned, reflecting views about Messiah. He calls Jesus 'the Lamb of God' referring to the Passover lamb in the Old Testament. Like John, we are to point others to Jesus. The episode ends in Revelation and the future role of the Lamb.

3. Satan tempts Jesus in the desert
Jesus spends 40 days in the desert. A biblical perspective of Satan is given. The 3 temptations are real but Jesus uses scripture, Holy Spirit and angels to overcome them. We have the same resources today.

2. The baptism of Jesus
John baptises Jesus which is the launch of his public ministry. God the Father speaks from heaven and the Holy Spirit comes in the form of a dove; each is involved in the mission. The place of baptism today is explored.

6. Jesus turns water into wine
At a village wedding in Cana the wine runs out. Jesus did not want to go public at that time but performs the miracle of water to wine, described by John as a sign. Marriage is endorsed. Teaching is given on alcohol.

7. Jesus’ first cleansing of the Jerusalem Temple
The Passover feast is explained. The role of the Temple with its corrupt trading was challenged and Jesus is introducing the New Covenant in which sacrifices and the Temple are no longer necessary.

Faith comes to the Samaritans as a result of the woman's testimony. Jesus gives a mission masterclass. The analogy of sowing and reaping is explored. We can all be sowers.

10. Jesus and the Samaritan woman
Jesus goes to Galilee through Samaria. The tension between Jews and Samaritans is explained. Jesus tells a woman at a well all about her life and she progresses in her understanding of him. Discussion moves from water to worship. The heart of worship is what matters, not where.

9. John the Baptist explains about Jesus
John the Baptist challenges Herod Antipas and is imprisoned. John's role is likened to a best man to the bridegroom, for Jesus. John affirms Jesus' identity as God and man. Jesus has the Holy Spirit without limit whereas the whole Church, as a body has the gifts.

8. Jesus talks to Nicodemus
Nicodemus, a Pharisee, seeks out Jesus. Jesus explains salvation as being born again. True Christianity is not about keeping rules but a change within. Belief in Jesus involves trusting him. God gives eternal life through his mercy.
