My Summary: 5 Lessons on Work-Life Balance

Here they are - my top 5 lessons to you to finally achieve work-life balance. This episode brings together all of my learnings from 12 months obsessing over the topic - reading articles, listening to podcasts and talking to people from various walks of life (including on this podcast) - so that you don’t have to. Listen in to hear about why You should be able to prioritise the things most important to you outside of work (big picture and day-to-day) Work should enhance your quality of life It’s actually more about ‘harmony’ than ‘balance’ It’s actually more about internal rather than external causes Worrying about work-life balance is privileged The best part about doing this podcast is hearing from you. S3 Ep1: Working smart, not hard - what psychologists think about work-life balance

If you want to finally start working smart instead of hard - and give your own boss the lowdown on the business benefits - this episode is for you. This episode, I’m talking to Arabella Ellis and Mark Loftus. They’re the husband-and-wife co-founders of Jyre - the company I’ve been working at for the past 8 months - and have a background in clinical psychology.  My stint working closely with Arabella and Mark was an essential part of my journey toward self-employment and crucially - putting an end to being a workaholic.  My three key takeaways Good work comes from the quality of judgement, not the quantity of output We are at our most impactful when we understand our unique strengths and play to them - when we truly just be ourselves I need to be aware of the pros and cons of the 'Professional leader' traits within me - such as ownership, perfectionism and my strength in managing expectations The best part about doing this podcast is hearing from you. S2 Ep3: Ego - the story of insecure overachievers

This episode I’m talking to tech titan-turned-author Jamie Heywood.  I love this conversation because it really digs deep into the internal root factors that hold us back from achieving the balance that we desire - but also explores some of the broader socioeconomic systems that are underpinning work-life balance issues at the moment.  Listen in to hear about… ❌ Why the ‘work to live’ mentality isn’t always helpful 👿 How your ego is pulling you out of balance 💰 Why the term ‘compensation’ is so messed up At the end of the episode, I give you my takeaways related to how work-life balance connects with energy and flow, and summarise the top 3 ways to prevent your ego pulling you out of balance. Listen in to hear about… ⏰ The daily 9-5 AND 5-9 of a junior doctor 👪 Why doctors are putting major life events on hold 🤔 How achieving work-life balance is harder for women than men This is a conversation that opened my eyes to worlds far removed from my own: the worlds of a junior doctor, a public sector worker and of a woman in a historically male-dominated workplace. Ravina is an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) registrar, training to become a consultant surgeon. Season 2 Intro: Work, Life, No Balance is back

The concept of work-life balance is broken. In today’s always-connected, hybrid-working world, focusing purely on the number of hours worked and how to separate work and life just doesn’t make sense. And yet - people still need to create balance in their lives - in fact they need it more than ever. It’s time we refreshed our definition of work-life balance. So I’m really excited for you to hear the second season of the ‘Work, Life, No Balance’ podcast!  In this intro, I talk you through what this season will and won’t be about, so you can decide if it’s for you. One call-out - this isn’t going to be the usual stuff like “you should set boundaries” - because if that’s all there is to work-life balance, you’ll already be doing it! The best part about doing this podcast is hearing from you. Message me (Prash Raval) on Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok or Twitter with any feedback, suggestions or updates on your journey. Thank you!

Season 1 Intro: Welcome to Work, Life, No Balance

A few months ago, I left a job after six rewarding but challenging years. I genuinely felt like I had come out of a long-term relationship. Even though I knew it was the right decision to leave, I felt lost. As the dust settled, I found I was struggling with the tension of wanting a new job that was just as stimulating, but that would give me greater balance - for me, that meant more time and energy for me, my wife, and other loved ones. So - this is a personal journey I’m going on. And I want to invite you to join me on that journey.
