World Cup Cast

They think it’s all over… With the chants of the World Cup still ringing in our ears, The World Cup Cast returns for the traditional extra time that no World Cup would be complete without, and this time Si is joined by Cope90 presenter Eli Mengem to discuss his time in Brazil. Eli is a presenter of YouTube channel Copa90, who spent the month in Brazil reporting on the games and showing a video diary of how Eli made the trip to the World Cup by going the long way from London. We chat about his pride at watching his native Australia play in Brazil, as well as just how incredibly beautiful the women were that he met along the way, as well as the amazing time he spent with fans of every nation competing at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Brazil once again failed to live up to expectations as they finished fourth in their own World Cup after defeat to Holland. Argentina needed a penalty shoot out make it to the World Cup Final in Brazil as they made hard work of beating Holland in Sao Paulo. Lionel Messi was kept quiet by Ron Vlaar, and Arjen Robben was muted by the Argentine defence as the game was reduced to a slow paced game of chess. In the first of the World Cup 2014 Semi Finals, Brazil were dumped out of the tournament in their own country in impressive style. The last two quarter finals of the 2014 World Cup Finals saw late, late drama as Holland and Costa Rica went to penalties to decide their game. Argentina booked their place in the semi final against Germany after beating Belgium in the early kick off. There was a distinct lack of excitement in Sao Paolo as Argentina made hard work of beating Switzerland, but the boys try and make as much as possible out of it while also taking in the Belgium v USA game in the last 16 of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. With 150 goals scored before a ball was kicked in Brazil this evening, there was anticipation ahead of the last Round of 16 games, but initially there was disappointment with just one goal between Argentina and the Swiss. The FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil treated us to a feast of football today as there were 10 goals in the first two games of the evening. After England were formally knocked out of the tournament as Costa Rica beat Italy, attention turned to Salvador which has now seen 17 goals in three World Cup games.
