World Cup Wrap Cast – Extra Time!

They think it’s all over… With the chants of the World Cup still ringing in our ears, The World Cup Cast returns for the traditional extra time that no World Cup would be complete without, and this time Si is joined by Cope90 presenter Eli Mengem to discuss his time in Brazil. Eli is a presenter of YouTube channel Copa90, who spent the month in Brazil reporting on the games and showing a video diary of how Eli made the trip to the World Cup by going the long way from London. We chat about his pride at watching his native Australia play in Brazil, as well as just how incredibly beautiful the women were that he met along the way, as well as the amazing time he spent with fans of every nation competing at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. That really is it from us, though, there is no penalty shoot out for us, but you can catch us on our new Premier League podcast from Sunday 20th July at Sing When We’re Winning and you can Tweet us your ideas @OnlySingWWW Thanks again for all your input and pointers throughout the World Cup, and as you’ll hear Eli say, we’ve set a date for the 2016 European Championships to record a follow-up to this interview face to face in Paris. Below is Copa90’s excellent Derby Days documentary, where Eli turns the tables and interviews Si for a bit about the games between Everton and Liverpool – but it’s only worth watching until about 12 minutes in! And how Eli spent his time getting to and around Brazil this summer

Argentina penalise the Dutch | World Cup 2014 Podcast

Argentina needed a penalty shoot out make it to the World Cup Final in Brazil as they made hard work of beating Holland in Sao Paulo. Lionel Messi was kept quiet by Ron Vlaar, and Arjen Robben was muted by the Argentine defence as the game was reduced to a slow paced game of chess. Your hosts manage to make light of it all though, as always! Remember you can get involved by Tweeting @WCP2014 or by leaving us a comment. Day 20 Podcast | World Cup 2014

There was a distinct lack of excitement in Sao Paolo as Argentina made hard work of beating Switzerland, but the boys try and make as much as possible out of it while also taking in the Belgium v USA game in the last 16 of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. With 150 goals scored before a ball was kicked in Brazil this evening, there was anticipation ahead of the last Round of 16 games, but initially there was disappointment with just one goal between Argentina and the Swiss. Your hosts make light of it all though, and as always give good value as they take the mickey out of whatever comes their way! Day 19 Podcast | World Cup 2014

After the excitement of commentating on penalties in last night’s episode, we play a game of spot the deliberate mistake as we prove that we record these casts in one take. France and Nigeria gave us an entertaining first game of matchday 19, and Germany made hard work of beating Algeria in the second game to set up a tie against the French in the quarter finals. We hit you with a stat attack and go back on our word about never mentioning a certain Uruguayan’s name again. Remember you can get involved by Tweeting @WCP2014 or by leaving us a comment. Matchday 13 | World Cup Podcast

As the World Cup waves goodbye to four more teams from this year’s tournament in Brazil, the boys discuss the incredible events of day 13. England were officially booked onto the plane home, but Luis Suarez once again steals the headlines after his utterly idiotic bite on Chiellini as Uruguay beat Italy. Greece showed they actually can play football in the opposition half and qualified for the group stages for the first time in their history, and Columbia brought on the oldest player to have played in a World Cup finals. Matchday 10 | World Cup Podcast

After yet another great day of football, the boys discuss three fantastic games in the World Cup in Brazil. Ecuador and Honduras failed to read the script in their late kick off at the end of Matchday 9, and Iran clearly failed to read their lines against Argentina. The enthralling 2-2 draw between Germany and Ghana ends the show as the boys revel in yet more great football. Almost half way into the tournament and plenty of goals to talk about, so keep listening to the World Cup Cast and as always, get involved by Tweeting @WCP2014 or by leaving us a comment.
