World’s Finest Comics #81 (1956) This week, we celebrate Batman in the 50s as we slap around this WORLD’S FINEST where a time-traveling historian shows up in present time to tell Bats and Supes that they’ve been doing it all wrong this whole time. Of course, these two are idiots and believe this dude right away, going about the business of letting crooks out of jail and B’Wana Beast-ing an entire zoo of animals. Barbie #5 (1991) Barbie Fashion #32 (1993) Good Lord what are we up to this week. We’ve got TWO Barbie comics that we beat up on and ultimately, we’ve come to the harsh conclusion that Barbie and Ken are a part of a murder cult. There are multiple instances where she tries to rub out Skipper, a young girl who believes she can talk to swans. Infinity Inc #15 (1985) Chroma is an androgynous space being who shows up on different planets to sing melodious dirges about the apocalypse. Obsidian, who is literally made of shadows, is like “I’m already goth AF so nah man” and punches Chroma out. As a result, Los Angeles and the rest of the Infinity Inc members are bummed out. Then Skyman shows up and they all take a ride in his gyrocopter or whatever it is he drives. Also, as an added bonus, this is an early work of Todd McFarlane so its all fancy and what not. Action Comics [vol 1] #466 (1976) In a retread of previous Superman stories we’ve done, Lex Luthor finds a way to make not only Superman young but also manages to de-age Batman and Flash. Or does he? Actually, he doesn’t. He just uses teenage androids, kicks the Batman one into oblivion and makes Superman punch himself a whole lot. Along the way, Superman destroys the Metropolis IHOP and somehow pockets extra body mass into an alternate dimension and we just have to accept it. Marvel Two-In-One #30 (1977) The Thing and Alicia Masters eat lunch at Piccadilly Circus in London when they are interrupted by some chaos. A chino-clad Ben runs off to investigate and is ambushed by a Hydra-influenced Spider-Woman (who Ben insists is Spider-Man’s sister). Nick Fury tells Ben to shut his damn mouth. Later, Alicia gets nabbed by Spider-Woman so she can ALSO become a mutated woman who is ALSO a spider (a Spider-Woman). To cope, Ben nearly drowns a hydrofoil filled with tourists and then some lady calls him the Hulk. SUCH A BIG MAN! WHY DON’T YOU GO GET A PACK OF GUM - I’LL SHOW YOU HOW TO CHEW IT. Big Man is long-dead(ish) Spider-Man villain that in some ways served as a terrible bodyguard for J. Jonah Jameson, seeing that the Big Man is dead and all. But he did try to take over the NYC mob with a padded suit and lifts in his boots so you can’t count out his ambition. My man here though certainly missed out on a career in true crime podcasting though. Not sure if you knew this but as of 1986-ish, Mysterio was in jail like FIVE TIMES and somehow keeps walking the streets. In this ep, we learn about his humble beginnings as a stuntman that just wanted to kill a superhero to his storied career of crime, teaming with other bulbous helmeted villains such as the Wizard.
