Writers Group is a Los Angeles based group of screenwriters that began meeting weekly in 2009. Our members include actors, directors, novelists and producers who have optioned screenplays, published novels, written and directed feature films, shorts and web series and placed highly in screenwriting competitions like Nicholl, Austin, Page, BlueCat and many more. Group founder,and moderator Dane Reade leads the group as they workshop pages and discuss topics relevant to writers, filmmakers and storytellers.

24 - Jaime Goes To Austin

The first new episode of Writers Group in a while is a good one. Jaime finished as a second rounder in the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition and decided to fly out for the festival and conference. She sat down with Writers Group alumni David Aslan and Elizabeth Armancas - both finalists in the Austin competition - and talked shop. A table read is where actors come in to read the entire script, including scene description, for the writer, director and producers. Here, a very dark indie style revenge film in its very early stages is read. This is an extremely rough draft of the script with feedback coming in the next episode.
