Usually the first episode of the year is a bucket list of items I want to achieve but I’m not doing that for 2026. Whilst I was glad to learn a new skill of DJing and get fitter by playing rugby with the Convicts last year - I still need to learn how to cook dammit and I cant be having any other resolutions until thats done! So instead this episode is just going to be one big brain dump! First I’ll start off with a life update of what I’ve been up to since Christmas including a trip to Perth and my 35th birthday! Then I’ll talk about the wave of reality crashing in after my birthday surrounding a big life decision! Then I’ll quickly talk about my predictions for the Grammys next week before I wrap it up with my Top 5 picks of the week! Andrew and I start this episode acknowledging the sensless violence at Bondi Beach last weekend. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, the Jewish & Muslim communities and Sydney who have been impacted. Unity and love will get us through. After that we reflect on the Big Brother finale where Coco was announced the winner Then the rest of the episode is all about Mother Monster's Mayhem tour which we give our initial thoughts on and then revisit the entire set list - act by act! Hello and welcome to episode 44 of the bradtpop podcast! I am very excited to be joined by my great friend Andrew to join the rest of the country in talking about BIG BROTHER! Andrew and I were part of the 20,000 people who applied but missed out on being in this year’s season 16 of the show but the first returning to the original format on Channel Ten. Season 1 premiered in 2001 at its home of Dreamworld Gold Coast with the finale attracting 2.8m won by Ben Williams with Blair McDonough being runner up. For those who don’t know Blair is Delta’s first boyfriend as a teenager whose deception inspired her #1 hits Not Me Not I and Predictable! I just had to mention Delta in the pod - especially since that is how Andrew and I know each other which we discussed on ep2 of this podcast, and this is his 4th appearance on the pod after talking about Kylie’s tour on ep 37 and Delta’s most recent tour on ep 39!  After 8 seasons and a failed Celebrity edition between 2001-2008 on Ch10, Big Brother was picked up on Ch9 between 2012-2014 which I would say was much loved by fans before Ch7 absolutely ruined it with their Survivor-style interpretation which somehow lasted 5 seasons between 2020-2023 which included celebrities like Caitlyn Jenner and past housemates like Reggie, Drew & Tully. The current season has really taken the country by storm with new host Mel Tracina, 24 hour live streaming, weekly tasks and live nominations and evictions. Andrew and I have just watched the Sunday night eviction where Michael was voted out and we will go one by one in our review of the housemates so far with a bonus episode later in the week to discuss the big talking points of the week and a weekly recap. Welcome to episode 43 of the bradtpop podcast! I am very excited to be joined by friends Kate & Maddy to talk about one of our favourite topics - Taylor Swift! Her 12th album The Life Of A Showgirl has broken all the records including biggest first week sales in the US - surpassing Adele’s 3.5m - and the highest streaming on Spotify for the week per average song, second on overall streams only to herself for the Tortured Poets Department which had nearly 3 times as many tracks. Today we will do a review on each of the twelve tracks and also talk about the associated film for the release party but first lets introduce our guests! Kate Pattison is famous among the Swifties, regularly being interviewed on TV and in print for her opinions on Taylor Swift and even landing herself in an academic book on Culture, Capital & Critique! She also is a PHD candidate at RMIT on fan studies including on Harry Styles & Delta Goodrem too. Speaking on Delta that is actually how the three of us know each other! People would be surprised the many connections that are made through the fandom. Maddy and I bonded over many clownings on a Reputation Taylors Version released, staying up watching tiktok lives off the Eras Tour that came to nothing! Maddy has only just moved to London a couple weeks ago and I’m so grateful for her time and Kates from Melbourne! For our listeners to get a better grasp of what type of Swifites we are, I’ve given us the impossible task of naming each of our Top 5 Taylor albums and then at the end of the episode we rank the tracks of her latest album from 1 to 12! I am so stoked to interview my favourite band End of Fashion! Lead singer Justin Burford joins me for an open discussion about the history of the band from their beginnings with the Sleepy Jackson, their breakout with Triple J on 'Rough Diamonds', their breakthrough with 'O Yeah' and their self-titled debut album which they are celebrating with a 20 year anniversary tour this month! Justin opens up about the demise of their band due to the lack of support from Triple J on their second album 'Book Of Lies' which is my favourite whilst Justin reveals that their third album 'Holiday Trip Of A Lifetime' is the one he is most proud of. He reveals his band will release a new album after their tour and shared many anecdotes over his career with reference to The Veronicas, Empire of the Sun, Evermore (and more!). I’ve been a huge fan ever since her Sound of White album dominated 20 yrs ago which she celebrated with an anniversary tour this year that I was lucky to go to twice. During the tour she also played several tracks from her newly released sixth studio album The Second Act which has just gone #1.  This artist spotlight is going to explore her whole career - era by era - including her latest album. Join my friend Sebastian and I as we count down our top ten favourities of the Eurovision Final in 2024! Australia narrowly missed out in the semi finals with the impressive performance by Electric Fields and the winner this year was Switzerland with the non binary performer Nemo doing an incredible performance of The Code! This years Eurovision was caught up in a lot of controversy and as a result people were not as impressed as previous years - firstly with the inclusion of Israel after many participants had signed a petition to remove them after their continued involvement in Gaza. Israel’s contestant Eden Golan actually received the second highest public vote and placed 5th overall. Then also Netherlands’ Joost Klein was disqualified just before the final after it was alleged he was aggressive towards production backstage after his performance which was a shame because his song Europapa couldve had a chance as it was the most streamed song prior to his disqualifaction and was voted second overall in semis.
