Are Tax Hikes are On the Way ?

There’s been a lot of speculation about whether the next president and Congress will raise taxes.  But a Wall Street Journal editorial warns about another tax hike – the automatic increase that businesses will pay in unemployment taxes.  I think we all know that – one way or another – those increases will be passed along to us.  Doesn’t this highlight the importance of reducing our tax liabilities, wherever we can?  Contact Rod For Your Customized Plan!

Joe Biden Wants to Make Changes to Your 401(k) - How Will this Impact You?

If you have a traditional 401(k), the contributions you make to it are tax deferred and tax deductible.  But Joe Biden wants to convert that deductibility to a 26% refundable tax credit.  That would benefit low-income workers, but it would penalize higher-income workers.  Investing strategist Matthew Sommer tells CNBC that such a change would make Roth retirement accounts more attractive. That’s great for young people – but what about those of us who already have 20- or 30-years’ worth of contributions in a traditional account?  Would we benefit from converting that money to a Roth?  Contact Rod and his team today for a Complimentary Portfolio Review! This is a great time to make sure you're on the right track with your financial planning, creating that income plan, filling those buckets of money and correcting any mistakes that may be found. Financial Lessons from Sir Isaac Newton!

Rod is both an Estate Attorney AND a Financial Advisor, hear how and why this makes him stand out from other financial advisors. Then, if we chose retirement planning topics like kids choose teams on the playground, guess which topic would be picked last?  Kiplinger says it would be estate planning.  Hear how Rod makes creating an estate plan fun and easy!  Okay, here’s something I didn’t know:  A story in The Atlantic says Sir Isaac Newton was a wealthy man … until he got greedy.  Newton sold off his “safe” holdings so he could invest more in a stock market boom.  But then the market tanked, and he lost what today would be the equivalent of about $4 million!  Isaac Newton was a pretty smart guy –  Rod discusses the lesson we can learn from his moves!  Call to meet with Rod today for a Complimentary Portfolio Review! This is a great time to take a look at your plan to make sure you are on track - you control your financial destiny!

What the 2020 Election Could Mean for Your Taxes!

Anything could happen between now and November, but some political analysts predict that we’re going to see a “blue wave” on election day – with Democrats winning the White House, the Senate, and the House.  If that happens, Forbes says we’ll almost certainly see an increase in our federal tax rates.  But because of the rising deficit, we might be paying higher taxes no matter which party wins.  Is it too soon to try to be proactive about managing our taxes?  We can't control the election, taxes or what could happen in the market BUT you can control your financial plan!  Contact Rod and his team today for a Complimentary Tax Analysis!

The US Economy Shrank 33% Last Quarter - What's Next?

The AP tells us that the US economy shrank at a record-breaking 33% rate last quarter. It feels like the national economy keeps taking 1 step forward… and 2 steps back…. And there’s no way we can control that.  So how do we make sure our personal economy is moving in the right direction, despite these wavering headlines? How much money would it take to consider yourself “financially comfortable”?  According to a new Charles Schwab survey, the magic number is $655 thousand.  But here’s the interesting thing:  They did this same survey back in January and the “financially comfortable” figure then was more than $900 thousand!  I’m a little surprised that our comfort level seems to move up-or-down, depending upon what the economy is doing – what do you make of this? Contact Rod and his team today for a Complimentary Portfolio Review!
