For two weeks in July, the three have enjoyed a residency at the Artxiboa facilities, the Festival's historical archive where Aranzubia has gathered material for his research on the influence of festivals on film production, particularly focusing on El espíritu de la colmena / The Spirit of the Beehive, 1973; Etxebeste has analyzed the retrospectives and visits of filmmakers from Hollywood's Golden Age during the mandate of Miguel de Echarri as director of the event from 1967 to 1977, and Ruiz has focused on the importance from 1965 onwards of San Sebastian'sInternational Meeting of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cinema and TV, with its contribution to the development of science and medicine films.

Under this new brand, a kind of classical film festival was born, extended in time and space, bringing together three pre-existing programmes: the Basque Film Arcive’s Spring season, the Festival classic retrospective and its Klasikoak section. La clase magistral tuvo lugar en la sala Z de Tabakalera el 21 de septiembre de 2021.   James Mockoski zinema-artxibozain eta American Zoetrope konpainiako zaharberritze-arduradunak Francis Ford Coppola zinemagilearen filmekin egin duen lana azaldu zuen Donostia Zinemaldiko 69. edizioan. Besteak beste, Apocalypse Now filmari eta Klasikoak sailean proiektatu ziren The Rain People eta The Outsiders lanei buruz hitz egin zuen Tabakalerako Z aretoan 2021eko irailaren 21ean eginiko eskola magistralean.   The film archivist and head of restoration at American Zoetrope, James Mockoski, explained his work with the films of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola including Apocalypse Now and those included in the Klasikoak section of the 69th edition of the San Sebastian Festival, The Rain People and The Outsiders: The Complete Novel. His masterclass took place in Tabakalera Z Room on September 21 2021.

La conversación con la cineasta versó sobre los desafíos que afronta una directora en Afganistán y sobre el propio cine de su país. La película de debut de Sadat, Wolf and Sheep (2016), fue seleccionada y premiada en la Quincena de Realizadores de Cannes, al igual que su segundo filme, la secuela The Orphanage (2019), también galardonada.   Shahrbanoo Sadat zuzendari afganiarrak klase magistrala eman zuen 2021eko irailaren 21ean Tabakalerako Z aretoan, Donostia Zinemaldiaren 69. edizioaren baitan. Sadaten lehenbiziko filma, Wolf and Sheep (2016), Cannesko Quinzaine des Réalisateurs-en saritua izan zen, baita The Orphanage (2019) bere bigarren filma ere.   Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat gave a masterclass on 21 September 2021 in Tabakalera’s Z Room, as part of the 69th edition of the San Sebastian Festival. The conversation focused on the challenges faced by a female director in Afghanistan and on her country’s cinema. Wolf and Sheep (2016), Sadat’s debut film, was selected and awarded at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight. Its sequel, The Orphanage, was also an award winner (2019).

The American producer began his career in the 90s and was a leading light in the boom experienced by indie movies during that decade and produced directors such as Ang Lee, Todd Solondz, Alejandro González Iñárritu and Michel Gondry. He later joined Amazon Studios, but his talk in San Sebastian coincided with his return to independent production. His masterclass was organized with the collaboration of Creative Europe MEDIA and General Direction of Cultural Industries, Intellectual Property and Cooperation (ICC).

Gaztelania / Castellano / Spanish Sonido Audiovisual: del origen hasta el Full Immersive fue el título de la clase magistral online que ofreció en la 68ª edición del Festival de San Sebastián (2020) Marc Orts, responsable y director creativo de sonido de Deluxe Spain. Además de ganar el Premio Goya al mejor sonido en cinco ocasiones, ha trabajado con directores como J.A. Bayona, Pedro Almodóvar, Daniel Monzón o Jaume Balagueró. En su intervención, que formó parte de Zinemaldia & Technology y tuvo el apoyo de Europa Creativa MEDIA, habló de la evolución de la tecnología del sonido y el proceso de creación de una banda sonora en función de su formato de reproducción.   Ikus-entzunezko soinua: jatorritik Full Immersive-raino izena izan zuen Marc Ortsek Donostia Zinemaldiko 68. edizioan online eginiko eskola magistralak. He has won the Goya Award for Best Sound five times and has worked for directors such as J.A. Bayona, Pedro Almodóvar, Daniel Monzón or Jaume Balagueró. His talk looked at the evolution of sound technology and the process of creating a soundtrack depending on its reproduction format. The talk was part of the Zinemaldia & Technology initiative and it had the backing of Creative Europe MEDIA.
