Description of Sermon - Humble Faith - Romans 3:27-31

Sermon Series: Romans (Heaven Sent)
Sermon Title: Humble Faith
Bible Passage: Romans 3:27–31
Preacher: Ian Morrison
Date: 13th April 2025, 9:30 am
As we continue in our Romans (Heaven Sent) series, Ian Morrison will lead us through Romans 3:27–31, where Paul explores the proper response to God's saving grace—humble faith. After revealing that we are justified freely by God’s grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus, Paul now asks: Where, then, is boasting?
The answer is clear: it is completely excluded. Salvation isn’t something we achieve through works, status, or heritage—it’s a gift received by faith. This humbles the proud and levels the playing field for all people. Whether Jew or Gentile, religious or irreligious, the same God justifies all who believe through the same faith in Jesus Christ.
This passage reminds us that the gospel leaves no room for pride, only praise. It’s not about what we’ve done for God, but what God has done for us in Christ. On the cross, Jesus bore our sin and fulfilled the law’s demands, so that we might be counted righteous—not by our merit, but by His mercy.
Join us as we reflect on the beauty of humble, trusting faith. Come be reminded that we stand before God not on the basis of performance, but because of the perfect work of Jesus. The gospel sets us free to live lives of gratitude, unity, and deep dependence on the grace of God.
