As we begin our Romans series, Robin Vonk will lead us through the opening verses of Paul’s letter in a sermon titled The Gospel of God. In Romans 1:1-7, Paul introduces the heart of his message—the good news that was promised long ago, fulfilled in Jesus Christ, and now offered to all who believe.

This passage reminds us that the gospel is not a human invention but God’s divine plan to rescue and redeem. It is centred on Jesus, the Son of God, who came in the flesh, was declared in power through His resurrection, and now reigns as Lord. Through Him, we receive grace, forgiveness, and the call to belong to His people.

At its core, this is the gospel of grace: We are not saved by our own righteousness, but by faith in the One who lived, died, and rose again for us. Paul’s introduction to Romans invites us to marvel at the depth of God’s love and the power of His salvation. It is a message for all people, calling us to respond in faith and obedience.
