Description of Sermon - What then is the advantage for God's covenant people? - Romans 3:1-8

Sermon Series: Romans (Heaven Sent)
Sermon Title: What Then Is the Advantage for God's Covenant People?
Bible Passage: Romans 3:1–8
Preacher: Ian Morrison
Date: 23rd March 2025, 9:30 am
As our Romans (Heaven Sent) series continues, Ian Morrison will take us into Romans 3:1–8, where Paul raises a striking question: What advantage is there in being part of God’s covenant people? Paul answers that there is great value—most of all in being entrusted with the very words of God. Yet even this privilege does not exempt anyone from guilt or judgment.
In these verses, Paul begins to dismantle any false sense of security that might come from religious identity or heritage. While God is always faithful, even when His people are not, this passage highlights a sobering truth: all people, regardless of background or spiritual status, are accountable to God.
And yet, it’s in the backdrop of this brokenness that the brilliance of the gospel shines. Though we are unfaithful, God remains faithful. Though we fall short, Jesus stood in our place. The gospel is not about our ability to live up to God’s covenant—it’s about Jesus fulfilling it perfectly on our behalf. Through His death and resurrection, He offers forgiveness, righteousness, and restoration to all who trust in Him.
Join us as we reflect on the privilege of knowing God's Word, the seriousness of sin, and the faithfulness of a God who keeps His promises. This sermon will remind us that our hope isn’t found in who we are or what we’ve done, but in Christ alone—our covenant-keeping Savior.
