The Melting Pot ~ ComicCon UK Special

In episode 4 The Melting Pot discuss their recent trip to Birmingham’s edition of Nerdvana and how pleasantly surprised they were that Comic Book creators took the issue of diversity very seriously.

In the Comic Book Village section of Comic-Con you can find the works of independent artists ranging from a harrowing horror comic involving archaeologists uncovering demonic hell beasts in their excavations to illustrations of hypersexualised males and females covering their nether regions with cacti.

The Melting Pot trio of Amo, Fatima and Thomas spent most of their Con chatting to these independent creators about their work, whether they treat the issue of diversity as a precursor or an afterthought.

Comic-Con, for the uninitiated, is where those invested in the world of Nerd Culture come together to celebrate Comic Books, Anime, Manga, Video Games, films and Sci-fi.

Waves of Gokus, Deapools and Spider-Men can be seen perusing the stalls for nerdy swag, participating in competitive Video Game competitions (eSports), getting an autograph from a sci-fi legend or attending a panel of artists, actors or content creators.
