Download Episode It’s Episode 27 of K-Pod! The guys meet at a place most people have eaten at, at least once in their lives. Burger King. That’s right. The guys ate at the famous American burger joint called Burger King. Johnny got the normal chicken sandwich meal while Dan ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. However, Dan said it wasn’t that spicy at all. Sales gimmick? You be the judge. After dinner, the guys went into a small cafe called Vanilla Bean. It is a small cafe located on the other side of Hongdae. You know, the side most people don’t go to. The streets were much quieter than the more “exciting” side of Hongdae, and the coffee shop was just as quiet. (Well, it was quiet until the last bit of recording when four people walked in and decided it was too quiet and wanted to add some noise.) The guys discussed the band, Girls, which just came out with their new album Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Dan digs the album while Johnny hasn’t listened to them enough to give an accurate opinion. So far, it sounds okay. They then moved on to the movie Real Steel. It’s basically Rocky with robots. Hope you enjoy Episode 27. Make sure you come back for 28 when Dan and Johnny will switch off roles. Show Notes Restaurant If you have eaten here anywhere in the world, then it is probably the same. No more photos needed for this one. Cafe While in Vanilla Bean Cafe, Johnny ordered an apple pound cake. Dan and Johnny both really liked it. If you venture into this cafe, try it out. Johnny ordered a hazelnut latte to wash down his apple pound cake. It was quite delicious and reasonably priced. Dan ordered a cookie shake. It look very delicious and smooth. According to Dan, it was both. Johnny had a few more photos, but his computer began acting crazy while doing this post. He might add them at a later date, but maybe not. Music Father, Son, Holy Ghost is the second album by Girls. The album covers a range of subjects, from being obsessed with a girlfriend to Christopher Owens’ relationship with his mom. The lyrics are interesting and seem to come from different parts of his life. You can see how he is influenced by the things around him through the writing of the lyrics. If you like bands like the Beatles, Elvis Costello, Buddy Holly, and the Beach Boys, then you might enjoy this band. They mix styles throughout the album so there may be some songs you like, while others you can do without. Check out the video “Honey Bunny” from the album Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Video Album (2009) Father, Son, Holy Ghost (2011) Movie In Real Steel, robots take the place of humans in the sport of boxing. Hugh Jackman plays the role of Charlie Keaton, once a boxer, now someone who controls a robot to box for him. However, when he finds out his ex-girlfriend has died and is left to take care of his son, things around him begin to change. If you are expecting a great film, this is not the one for you. It is an entertaining film during which you don’t have to think. It is one of those films where you can let your mind go blank and just enjoy the scenery. Johnny did like how the film didn’t throw the future in your face. Usually, when a movie takes place in the future, you see cars that drive themselves or fly, buildings that look clean and shiny, but not in this film. The reason you know it is in the future is because of the giant robots with futuristic joysticks that control them from the side. It was a nice touch to the film. So, if you are interested in seeing a film where you can just sit back and enjoy some action with a bit of comedy and cuteness for flavor, then this is the movie for you.
