Jacobs (31-1, 28 KOs) hurt Quillin almost immediately with a flush right. Quillin backed into the ropes where the two Brooklynites exchanged hard shots. It was Quillin (32-1-1, 23 KOs) who came out of it worse,and two other Jacobs rights had him wobbling across the ring. Referee Harvey Dock took a quick look at the wide-eyed stare of Quillin and called the fight off with the fighter still standing. Joshua punished bitter rival Whyte in the first round of the clash of bitter rivals, then after some late punches, both corners emptied into the ring. Both Joshua and Whyte were rocked in round two. Enzo Maccarinelli knocks out Roy Jones in four DEC 12th Russia Former cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli (41-7, 33 KOs) scored a brutal fourth round knockout over 46-year-old ring legend Roy Jones Jr. (62-8, 45 KOs) on Saturday night at the VTB Ice Palace in Moscow, Russia. Maccarinelli floored Jones with an uppercut then laid him out face first with his follow up barrage. Time was 1:59. Donaire & Verdejo score huge wins in Puerto Rico Dec 12th The “Filipino Flash” is a world champion again. In a clash for the vacant WBO jr featherweight title, WBO #2 rated Nonito Donaire (36-3, 23 KOs) won an exciting twelve round unanimous decision over #1 Cesar Juarez (17-3, 13 KOs) on Friday night at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Donaire dropped Juarez twice in round four and built up an early lead. Juarez stayed in the fight with heart and guts. Figueroa took it to DeMarco by smothering him with power shots and punch volume. DeMarco got going late in the fight, but it was too little, too late. One judge scored it 116-112 and the other two judges saw it 115-113. Heavyweight Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola (37-4-1, 31 KOs) won a razor-thin split decision over Travis “My Time” Kauffman (30-2, 22 KOs). Arreola came out aggressively in the first round but Kauffman made it a real war, dropping Arreola in round three. After the full twelve, one judge had it 114-113 for Kauffman, while two judges saw it 114-113 for Arreola. Former world champion Victor Ortiz (31-5-2, 24 KOs) scored a TKO over Gilberto Sanchez Leon (33-14-2). Ortiz had an easy eight rounds, dominating the fight. The referee stopped the fight at the end of round eight. The time was 2:57.
