Hi Mr Williams, In First Place i would want to thank you your task and effort to spread "History" how you divulgate in a such additive way ,but (sorry) i would like to share with you how sad i have been this morning listening that "LLibre del Consolat de la Mar" is a Catalan book , when this collection of mercantile (commercial) rules was written in Valencia and in Valenciano Language (art 3.3 C and 7,1 Valencian Estatut). As you , better than anyone know, History is written by winners and interested people, and this case is one of this, Unfortunately Valencian people are currently Orfans of defenders of our Language and Culture, absolutive differentiated from other "cousin" cultures like , Aragón, Catalan or Castilian. Miguel de Cervantes said "Valenciano Hermosa lengua con quien solo la portuguesa puede competir en dulzura y amabilidad" .Torcuato LUca de Tena "La Valenciana fue la lengua más culta de todas las lenguas romances en la Edad Media". Menendez Pidal "Es la Valenciana la primera lengua romance literaria de Europa, de quien sus clásicos no solo aprendieron los literatos catalanes sino los castellanos". Never , until begining of xx Century anyone referred to Valencian like Catalan. In all those Quotes and more , always wise and intelligent people have referred our language like Valenciano and not Catalan ¿Why did you use the term Catalan , being you as accurate about history as you are? . Please , before the arrival of Jaume I 1238 in Valencia , Mozarabs ando ordinary people used romance Valenciano (Jarchas) , this is a fact indisputable . Thank you.
